James shares his passion and story.
James chooses his Higher Power, which is God.
'In the morning when I pray, throughout the day I have to act like I've prayed.'
The Value Journey Podcast introduces James. A beautiful soul. A man of strong character, integrity, and dignity. Have tissues nearby as James shares his value journey.
James shares his passion and story. James chooses his Higher Power, which is God.
Everyone that meets James says that he is such a strong and stable person. James doesn’t waste the precious gift of time. James is intentional in how he lives his life.
The opportunity to associate with James will improve you as a person and enhance your life tremendously.
Apprehensive at first, yet, James courageously shares his story and his calling from God to make a positive difference daily.
James blessed Rhonda Jennifer by sharing how he resonated with the No More Crumbs book series. James tells his value journey story on how he used to settle for crumbs, spiritually and emotionally. James came out of a dark place. The past experiences were due to how James perceived himself and how he previously perceived God.
The misconception of what James knew about God kept James feeling isolated, alone, and rejected. As a result, James formed a negative opinion about himself. He avoided coming to the ‘light’ in fear of never being good enough or accepted.
James learned the difference between Guilt and Shame.
‘Guilt is when you feel like you have made a mistake.’
‘Shame is when you feel you are the mistake.’
‘It was only God who got me out of the darkness’, says James.
James has accepted that through all the losses and hard times, that God had a specific and marvelous plan. From his past experiences, he can stand tall, proud, and thankful to God for never giving up on him and giving him a designated and specific calling and plan.
He would wake up with negative thoughts about himself, but now he wakes up thankful and purposefully to do God’s work within himself and to anyone he may come in contact with. James is focused and intentional in all areas of his life.

You will be inspired to do more for your community as Mr. Jarriel Jordan Sr., Founder, and Executive Director of Jacobs Ladder Youth Foundation, Inc., share the phenomenal work they are doing.
Mr. Jordan has worked in our community for over thirty years as a coach, teacher and police officer. Mr. Jordan has a sincere desire to reduce the number of juveniles entering and returning to the juvenile justice system. Jacob’s Ladder Youth Foundation was developed in response to the rapid deterioration of our communities because of the growing number of juveniles that are introduced to the juvenile justice system, juveniles returning to the community after periods of being detained and failing diversion/reentry programs that do not provide positive long term results.
Jacob’s Ladder Youth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that faithfully serves our community. Our mission is to reduce the number of juveniles entering and returning to the juvenile justice system. We provide weekly reentry/recidivism sessions at the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center and Maryland’s Department of Juvenile Services - Evening Reporting Center.
In 2020, we introduced the Junior Workforce Academy. The mission of the Junior Workforce Academy is to prepare 14-22-year-old youth to compete for employment. Participants are exposed to resume preparation, interview strategies, responding to work, how to read a check and the importance of saving. We are determined to develop the next generation of career-ready, financially responsible citizens.

“I. Am. Still. Here.”
Four simple words that carry the weight of a journey still unfolding.
Minister Wanda Edwards will share her story. Please read Minister Wanda’s biography below.
------------------------------------------
Wanda Edwards
Survivor
Motivational Speaker
Certified Domestic Violence Advocate
She was referred to as “the repairer of the breach” by her former Pastor, Walter L Parrish. Wanda began the first Volunteer Ministry for Women in crisis transition at her church in 2005; shortly after, she became a licensed minister.
Wanda is a survivor of Domestic Violence and has also overcome years of struggling with drug addiction.
She has said that “becoming an advocate against Domestic Violence was not an actual decision. It was something that evolved as a result of me trying to find my way back to me. Wanda realized there was power and healing in sharing her story with others.
She continues to facilitate powerful and relevant seminars and workshops for women and young girls. In 2017, she was the Phoenix Award recipient for her “strength, courage and resiliency,” presented by Harambe Services Inc.
In May of 2018, Wanda was honored at the annual S.O.F.I.A Walking in Purpose Gala for her “outstanding work and dedication.”
Wanda was also honored by the first annual Power of Women Summit, where she received the “Community Advocator of the Year” Award and Gamma Phi Delta Sorority in 2018.
Wanda is the producer of the film “Colors of Survival,” which premiered in October 2016; the film reflects on the very harsh realities of domestic violence but is focused on the HOPE of surviving.
In 2018, Wanda wrote and produced “Not Just October” a stage play that focuses on the need for continued discussion around the harsh and sometimes fatal effects of Domestic Violence.
She volunteers with S.O.F.I.A, a New Jersey non-profit Domestic Violence Awareness organization, and is a member of Arizona and New Jersey National Coalitions against Domestic Violence.
Her greatest joy is her children and grandchildren, whom she lovingly refers to as her “3Squared”.
Just a few of the important words of wisdom from Minister Wanda Edwards:
3 important things to remember:
“Feel, Deal, and Heal.”
“Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people on how to treat you.”
Happy New Year! I am very thankful for the opportunity to share the story and life lessons from Authors Magdalena (“Magda”) Michniowska Newman & Nathaniel Newman. Nathaniel says, “Separate who someone is from what they look like; looks don’t matter. Be grateful. Challenge to appreciate what you have – we have so much more than we realize.” Quote from memoir, ‘Normal: One Kid’s Extraordinary Journey,’ Magdalena Newman and Nathaniel Newman
---------------------------
Recommended read and biography below:
Magda and Nathaniel wanted to share their mantra with the world; “LIVE YOUR NORMAL.”Author Biography Magdalena (“Magda”) Michniowska Newman & Nathaniel Newman, Book Titles: • Normal, A Mother and Her Beautiful Son • Normal, One Kid’s Extraordinary Journey, Publisher: HMH Books Publication Date: January 14, 2020 (books available on Amazon.com and Audible).
Magda was born in Sanok, Poland, in 1979 to Marek and Zofia Michniowska. She was raised on her family farm and is the oldest of six siblings. Early on, it was apparent that Magda would be an accomplished pianist, and much of her young life was spent learning and performing classical piano across Europe. As a teenager, she began traveling to the United States for her summers, and that is where she met her now-husband, Russel Newman. She earned her Masters-Degree in The Theory & Composition of Music from the acclaimed Stanislaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk, Poland. Shortly after completing her education, Magda moved to the United States to start a life and family with Russel. Russel and Magda live in Seattle, Washington, with their two sons, Nathaniel and Jacob, and their four dogs. Nathaniel, their first-born son, was born in New York City in 2004. Nathaniel is now a thriving 17year-old high school Junior. He loves his four dogs, video games, and all things animation. He is progressing toward his black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Nathaniel spends much of his free time volunteering at an animal rescue sanctuary. He dreams of becoming a veterinarian someday and is hoping to attend college in Washington.
Magda and Nathaniel Newman have lived through almost unimaginable hardship. Nathaniel was born with a very rare genetic birth defect known as Treacher-Collins Syndrome. His Mother, over the course of Nathaniel’s life, has endured two battles with Stage 4 Cancer and a total hip replacement.
Nathaniel has endured a life of constant struggle. He was born with no ears, no cheekbones, a very small jaw, no nasal passages, and need a tracheostomy to breathe for his entire young life. As a newborn and toddler, he was fed through a tube in his stomach, unable to eat by mouth. He has endured well over 70 surgical procedures. As a young child growing up, he often endured stares, taunts, and teasing from those he encountered. Yet, Nathaniel is now a thriving young man, excelling in school and enjoying all that you would expect of a 17-year-old kid. Throughout his journey, Nathaniel has refused to be defined by his difference and has never allowed anyone to tell him what his NORMAL is.
In addition to all that comes with raising a boy like Nathaniel, Magda has had challenges of her own. Shortly after the birth of their second child Jacob, Magda took ill. After months of misdiagnosis and bad medical advice, Magda was ultimately diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins- Lymphoma. Magda was the Mother of an infant and a 2 ½-year-old with complex medical issues.
Magda endured 8 months of intense chemotherapy. She achieved remission and went on to be a certified fitness instructor. A few years later, Magda was left with a necrotic hip due to chemo and required full hip replacement on her right side. A few years of calm would follow. However, when Nathaniel turned 13 and was dealing with major surgery of his own, Magda once again took ill. Unimaginably, she was once again diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. This time Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This time chemo lasted four months but would be even more intense. Again, Magda and the entire family had to navigate both Nathaniel’s Surgical Challenges and Magda’s chemo regimen. Miraculously, Magda once again beat her cancer. Once more challenge, her hysterectomy, paled in comparison to her early struggles, but that to had life-changing effects.
Today, Magda and Nathaniel are both healthy and thriving. They have recently published their companion memoirs. These touching reads don’t tell the sad story of two sick people overcoming countless obstacles. They are the story of a family “CHASING NORMAL.” A normal life for their son! A normal motherhood experience for Magda and the entire family, a normal existence that many who have it likely take for granted. By writing these memoirs, Magda and Nathaniel wanted to share their mantra with the world; “LIVE YOUR NORMAL.”Author Biography Magdalena (“Magda”) Michniowska Newman & Nathaniel Newman, Book Titles: • Normal, A Mother and Her Beautiful Son • Normal, One Kid’s Extraordinary Journey, Publisher: HMH Books Publication Date: January 14, 2020 (books available on Amazon.com and Audible).

Some points of discussion: Make a list of gratitude. Ask yourself these questions:
1. What do I want? Make a list.
2. What will that do for me specifically?
3. How will I know when I have it?
4. What resources do I need?
5. What resources do I already have?6. What keeps me from having this already?
1. What do I love to do? What do I love spending my time doing?
2. What are my unique talents?
